The project supports rural development and the promotion of local products

The Chamber of Deputies has approved by decision the draft law on the establishment and operation of Local Gastronomic Points. These are establishments located in rural localities, where food and drinks specific to the area are prepared and served directly to the final consumer, for a maximum of 15 people at a time. The draft, which now has a clear path to enactment, aims to enhance local primary production and support rural development.

The Local Gastronomic Points will operate in various locations, such as private homes, farms, stables, wine cellars, fishing shelters, hunting grounds, monasteries and others. They are intended to offer consumers products prepared from local raw materials, from primary production on their own farms or from local producers, reports News.ro

The legislative initiative allows the establishment of Local Gastronomic Points by natural and legal persons, in compliance with health, veterinary and food safety rules. The project supports rural development and the promotion of local products, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has the role of supporting these points through a series of information, promotion and training actions.
