The documentary "We, Our Favorites and War" by Anton Ptushkin, a Ukrainian travel blogger and former host of "Eagle and Tails," has become a record-breaker. In its first weekend at the national box office, it collected UAH 2.3 million - more than the highest-grossing Ukrainian documentary "20 Days in Mariupol" earned in 16 weekends.
The film was shown in 142 theaters on 174 screens. Every day, cinemas showed about 240 screenings of the film. From April 4 to 7, the movie was watched by about 13,400 viewers. On April 4, the tape "We, our favorites and the war" set another record: the largest box office on the results of the first day of distribution in the niche of documentary cinema - 359 thousand UAH.
"This is definitely a successful start of distribution for any film, not only documentaries," - said Yasinskaya.
It took Mstislav Chernov's "20 Days in Mariupol," the most popular Ukrainian documentary to date, 16 weekends to collect UAH 2.1 million and almost 17,000 viewers. As of early April, the box office of the tape, which won Ukraine's first-ever Oscar, totaled UAH 8.7 million.
"We, Our Favorites and War" is the first documentary by Ukrainian TV host and traveler Anton Ptushkin. The tape has already been purchased by the largest broadcaster in the United States.
Mstislav Chernov's Oscar-winning documentary "20 Days in Mariupol" has set records for the number of viewers on Ukrainian streaming services.
