A mobile application has been created in Ukraine that allows a woman experiencing domestic violence to call the police without making a phone call

This was reported by espreso.tv

"Through the mobile application, a woman experiencing violence or at risk can call the police through the SOS button without calling. The police will arrive at the geolocation or address specified during registration," the statement said.

The external interface of the application is disguised as a program where women usually track their menstrual cycle. The police call button, useful information and contacts of other assistance services in cases of domestic or gender-based violence are available only in a hidden interface.

Access to the app through the Telegram chatbot: https://t.me/female_app_bot.

The app was created in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the National Police, with the support of the British government.

  • In January 2018, the law on combating domestic violence in Ukraine came into force.
