Center for Strategic Communications reveals spreading of false statements about urgent evacuation of Kharkiv and Odesa residents

The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security reported that russian pro-kremlin media are actively spreading false information about the alleged need for urgent evacuation of residents of Kharkiv and Odesa due to the creation of a "buffer zone".

"russia plans to turn Kharkiv and Odesa into a "buffer zone," so all civilians must leave these cities. This information is being spread by pro-kremlin fake news outlets," the statement said.

According to the Center, the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine are effectively holding the line along the entire frontline, actively resisting the enemy, in particular in the Kharkiv region. At the same time, the Ukrainian military leadership is closely monitoring the situation and has not found any evidence of the aggressor's preparations for an offensive on Kharkiv or Odesa.

The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security emphasizes that the purpose of such disinformation campaigns is to cause panic and chaos among the population of Ukraine. The Center for Countering Disinformation also published a list of fakes and manipulations that were detected on April 4, including the statement that "Kharkiv and Odesa are historically russian cities that will return to russian control".
