Encouraging russians to move to the temporarily occupied Mariupol includes financial incentives and housing distribution
Advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, said that the occupation authorities are actively encouraging russian citizens to move to Mariupol by offering them financial bonuses.
"russians are paid to come and live in the temporarily occupied Mariupol. That is, they receive money. With this money, they can buy furniture and make repairs. The occupiers issue warrants for apartments that they have recognized as ownerless. This is how the scheme works in Mariupol. And it is being actively promoted by the occupiers", Andriushchenko said.
According to him, the idea of moving to Mariupol finds significant support among russian citizens.
"They are not encouraging migrants to move anymore. On the contrary, there is an active campaign in the European part of russia to move to Mariupol. Their authorities are trying to promote this idea very actively. And it's surprising that the russians themselves really like the idea of moving to occupied Mariupol. That is, they come to the ruins and settle in our apartments," he added.
Andriushchenko also noted that the occupiers plan to restore the railway connection between Mariupol and Ilovaisk in April-May, and also dream of building a new railway along the Azov coast. On April 1, the National Resistance Center reported that a youth forum "Rose of Donbas" was held in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, where the occupiers glorified war criminals.
