This year Ukraine and Slovakia plan to launch a new international route that will connect the railway stations of Kiev and Kosice

About it writes espreso.tv

Secretary of State at the Slovak Ministry of Transport Denisa Zilakova said that the Slovak government has approved a proposal to introduce a direct rail link between Kyiv and Kosice.

"The route will serve, in particular, to enable more Ukrainians to use the services of the international airport in Kosice. From Kyiv, the train will reach the Ganiska station near Kosice via the Pavlovo - Matovské Vojkovce border crossing," the report said.

The organizational and preparatory work for the launch of the new route is ongoing, namely:

  • equipping the premises for border and customs control
  • changing the platform at Ganiska station near Košice
  • preparing the bus connection from Ganiska to the airport and Košice railroad station
  • contracting transportation services with Slovak Railway
  • working on finding sources of financing for the project

On March 28, the first international train from Prague arrived in Chop in Transcarpathia, which became the start of new direct daily rail flights between Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
