Unprecedented shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has had global implications for the energy system
Ukrenergo CEO: Power system of Ukraine remains functional despite large-scale attacks
During the night and morning shelling by the russian federation on the territory of Ukraine, a significant number of key energy network facilities were damaged, which led to global consequences for the country's energy system. This was reported by Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of PrJSC National Energy Company Ukrenergo, on Radio Liberty (Svoboda.Ranok project).
Kudrytskyi noted that the number of missiles fired at the power system is unprecedented for the entire period of large-scale invasion.
"The power system has maintained its integrity and continues to function. We are in control of the situation and receive a certain amount of electricity from Europe, as our power system is integrated with the European one. However, in many regions, there is significant damage to the energy infrastructure due to the scale of the attack. Even last winter, we did not face such large-scale attacks on our power system, so in some regions we have to impose restrictions on electricity supply," Kudrytskyi said.
