On March 21, the independent Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, which was previously a division of the Prosecutor General's Office, begins its work

This is reported by espreso.tv

According to the procedure, the SAPO, which was an independent structural unit of the Prosecutor General's Office, will be liquidated by the Prosecutor General upon the submission of the head of the SAPO within 3 days from the date of receipt of such a submission. Therefore, the SAPO becomes a separate legal entity under public law.

The relevant announcement is posted on the official website of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Prosecutors and other employees of the SAPO are transferred, with their consent, to the respective positions of prosecutors and employees of the SAPO by the decision of the Head of the SAPO and in accordance with the approved structure and staffing.

The SAPO notes that the launch of the independent anti-corruption prosecutor's office will not affect the investigation of cases under its jurisdiction or the support of public prosecution in court in criminal proceedings that are already being heard in courts.

"The independence of the SAPO is primarily about new opportunities to fight corruption and prospects for overcoming this manifestation in society," the statement said.
