The United States has proposed to G7 partners the idea of issuing $50 billion in bonds to help Ukraine using proceeds from frozen russian assets

This is reported by espreso.tv

According to the news agency's sources, the United States proposes to combine the $280 billion of russian central bank assets frozen by the G7 countries and the European Union into a special fund, the proceeds of which will be used to support "freedom bonds."

Bloomberg emphasizes that the EU has frozen more than two-thirds of russia's assets: they provide a net profit of about $3.6 billion a year. The proceeds from the potential sale of the bonds will amount to almost $60 billion of US aid to Ukraine, which has not yet been approved.

The discussions are currently at an early stage, the news agency's source said. At the same time, another source noted that some G7 countries, including France and Germany, have expressed caution about the idea.

At the same time, some states, including Estonia, have called on partners to confiscate all assets.

  • On March 19, it was reported that the European Union had prepared proposals according to which Ukraine would start receiving income from frozen russian assets in July.
