In May of this year, volunteers of the Vinnytsia branch of the "Gay Alliance Ukraine" created the initiative "Caring Claws". The tasks of this movement are:

·       setting up communications for stray animals in the city to provide them with drinking water;

·       involving people in raising funds to purchase food and medicine for animal shelters;

·       setting up communications across the city for stray animals to provide them with drinking water;

On 14 June, the team announced the launch of a fundraiser to purchase essential items for the animals. The goal was 5 thousand hryvnias. Three days later, the collection was closed. The total amount of donations was UAH 5457. With these funds, the volunteers purchased 3 packages of hygienic litter, 3 sets of wet grain-free food for cats with sensitive digestion, 50 pieces of wet cat food, 10 kg of dry cat food, eye care wipes, diapers for dogs and puppies, and the antibiotic Ceftriaxone.

On June 25, members of the Caring Claws initiative Roman and Karina delivered the purchased goods to the Ostrovok shelter. The owner, Inna told us about her furry pets – more than 200 cats and 3 dogs. Each animal has its own unique story. Some of them were brought from Avdiivka. There are also sick cats that need constant care.

In the future, the team plans to place watering troughs for stray animals on the streets of Vinnytsia. Last year, this action was already carried out, but some of these communications were destroyed by vandals.

In times of full-scale war, it is important not to forget that not only defenders, but also defenseless animals, children from orphanages and seriously ill children need our help. Every donation, even 1 hryvnia, can save someone's life. Uniting together and helping each other is the only way we can withstand the enemy – both at war and in the rear.
