The teams traded goals in the first half, with Ondrej Duda scoring for the Slovaks and Răzvan Marin converting a penalty kick for Romania. In the final standings of Group E, all teams scored 4 points each. Such a case happened for the first time in the history of the World Cup.

But due to the goal difference, Ukraine finished last and could not make the playoffs. Romania reached the 1/8 finals from the first place, Belgium was second and Slovakia was third.

How Ukraine performs at Euro 2024

On Wednesday, June 26, the matches of the 3rd round of Euro 2024 were played. Ukraine drew against Belgium (0:0), while Slovakia and Romania also came up short (1:1).

In the final Group E standings, all teams scored four points each. It was the first time in World Cup history that such a result had been achieved.

But because of the goal difference, Ukraine finished last and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Romania reached the 1/8 finals from the first place, Belgium — second, and Slovakia — third.
