Hungary has not included aid to Ukraine in the list of priorities of the EU Council presidency
Hungary, which will rotate the presidency of the Council of the European Union for six months from July 1, has announced the priorities of its presidency. There is no mention of Ukraine among them
"We want to take advantage of the momentum, we see that we can speed up the accession process of the Western Balkan countries. We have waited too long", the ambassador said.
Odor added that Budapest wants to hold an EU-Western Balkans summit within six months.
When asked by reporters what to expect regarding Russia and aid to Ukraine, he said Hungary "will follow developments closely and will put on the agenda all necessary aspects as needed".
It is noted that among the listed priorities of Hungary there were no words about support for Ukraine, at the same time, such areas as EU competitiveness, economic relations with third countries, easing administrative burdens, defense policy, cooperation in the field of arms procurement were mentioned.
- Recently, Belgium, which now holds the EU Council presidency, suggested that member governments consider the possibility of stripping Hungary of its voting rights.
- Meanwhile, Hungary decided on a slogan for its presidency of the EU Council — "Make Europe Great Again". These words echo former US President Donald Trump's phrase — "Make America Great Again".
