The Hungarian government has issued a decree according to which Ukrainian citizens will be able to obtain a residence permit even with an expired passport
According to espreso.tv

According to the document, an identity card abroad is considered valid during and for six months after the end of Hungary's state of emergency, which was first declared on March 11, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and then in May 2022, due to the war in Ukraine.

So, when applying for a residence permit, an expired passport of a Ukrainian citizen is considered valid, accordingly, a residence permit can be issued.

As noted in the decree, this norm does not apply to procedures for obtaining Hungarian citizenship.

  • On June 10, it was reported that Polish President Andrzej Duda signed amendments to the law on assistance to Ukrainian refugees, which extends the time of their stay in the country.
