Exports through Odessa ports increased by 70%
At the forum in Odessa, the head of the Odessa RMA Oleg Kiper reported a significant increase in exports through the ports of the Odessa region
This was announced by the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, at the forum of the Black Sea Security Forum in Odessa. He noted that despite the sea blockade and enemy shelling, it was possible to achieve 50% of the pre-war trade turnover. Since the beginning of this year, the ports of Odessa region have already exported 46 million tons of products — it is 70% more than last year's figure.
According to Kiper, now almost 80 percent of Ukrainian cargoes move through the ports of Odessa Region, as Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv ports are now inaccessible for work. He also mentioned aid priorities for the region, pointing to the need for air defense systems and coordinated actions of international partners in the issue of demining the Black Sea.
Kiper at the same time, noted that despite the difficult situation, Ukraine did not stop supplying food to other countries.
"The deliberate destruction of Odessa Region ports creates preconditions for food shortages in the world even now. But hunger should not be used as a weapon, and Ukraine continues to feed the world even in its hard times", the RMA head emphasized.
