NATO plans to expand cooperation with Ukraine in defense technology during talks

NATO Assistant Secretary General David van Weel announced that NATO is preparing an agreement that introduces a new framework for sharing information, including on drone supply chains. It will be finalized by the alliance's July summit in Washington. One of the program's goals is to help Ukraine become a large-scale technology provider after the war ends.

NATO also wants to replicate some of the rapid technology adoption and deployment seen in Ukraine since the war began. David van Weel told reporters that the war has prompted the North Atlantic alliance to devote more resources to supporting cybersecurity and tracking russian military technology.

"The Ukrainians are innovating very quickly. But, of course, the russians are not stupid. This means that innovation on the battlefield is not a static thing. It's more like chess", he said.

General Eirik Kristoffersen, commander-in-chief of Norway's armed forces, suggested that NATO's window of opportunity to prepare for a likely confrontation with Russia has shrunk to two to three years.

On June 5, russian dictator vladimir putin threatened countries that transfer military aid to Ukraine.

An analyst at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Oleskii Izhak analyzed the possibility of a russian attack on European countries against the backdrop of NATO's three-year preparation for a possible conflict with russia.
