He said this on air of the Espresso TV channel.

"We should count on the fact that the most important events for Ukraine will take place already in July, at the summit where the 75th anniversary of NATO will be celebrated. It is clear that Ukraine will not be extended an invitation. However, other formulas will be found. There are still a few weeks for the position that will be worked out by Western partners to suit Ukraine and partners, including Biden, Scholz and some other NATO members, such as Hungary, who are not ready to accept our country into this organization. But progress must take place", he said.

Voitko described what a compromise model between Ukraine's membership in the Alliance and security guarantees that would make the next aggressive action by Russia impossible.

"Several agreements regarding Western countries' assistance to Ukraine have already been concluded. One of the agreements should now be concluded with the US. Now its preparation is being finalized, it is not known when it will be concluded. Perhaps it will happen in the next two weeks or at the NATO summit in July. This is not a substitute for Ukraine's full membership in the Alliance. Only membership can provide Ukraine with adequate security. But so far not all Western partners are ready for this. It is likely that the Ukrainian side will be presented with documents that will allow us to do our "homework". After all, we have the AFU, which is already ready to become NATO troops, because it has invaluable experience in fighting the Russian Federation. No other army in the world has such experience. Interoperability has already been achieved between the AFU and NATO troops", the diplomat summarized.
  • Reminder, during the annual summit of the Alliance in Washington this summer, NATO plans to offer  Ukraine a security package that will serve as a "bridge" to its membership.
