Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Federation has allocated $30 million to make films about the war. The CCD named the goal
The Center for Countering Disinformation explained why, after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia increased spending on making films about the war
It's been reported that Russia has ramped up spending on so-called patriotic films in the time since it began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since 2022, spending on movies has increased 3.5 times to $30 million dollars.
"The plots of these films fit into the Kremlin's propaganda paradigm — they talk about the 'great victory' during World War II and justify armed aggression against Ukraine by 'fighting Nazism' and 'saving Russian-speaking Ukrainians,' glorifying the participants in the war", the report said.
It is stated that such films are actively popularized, particularly through television, to continue the Russian propaganda strategy, which aims to militarize society and cultivate hatred towards Ukrainians and the West.
In addition, one of the goals of such tapes is Russia's desire to draw children and youth in the occupied territories of Ukraine into its cultural space.
- Earlier, the Russian state propaganda channel released a TV series that distorts the truth about the 2013-2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. It calls the Dignity Revolution "a coup d'état, through which radical, pro-Western forces came to power".
