What is known about the Swiss Peace Summit

On March 18, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Wang Shi-ting said that the PRC is considering participating in the Peace Summit, which Switzerland is organizing at the request of Ukraine.

On May 2, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said that Russia should attend the Peace Summit because "a peace process without Russia is unthinkable." However, this year Moscow was not invited to the event.

On the same day, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said the summit would be the first real chance to restore peace.

On May 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than 80 countries had already confirmed their participation in the Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland on June 15-16.

The Peace Summit plans to develop a common negotiating position of Ukraine, which will be passed on to Russia's top leadership, Ukrainian presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said.
