Oleksandr Martynenko, founder and head of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, who died on May 28, will be buried at the Baikove cemetery in Kyiv

It is indicated that the funeral ceremony for Oleksandr Martynenko will take place on May 31 at 11:00 am at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.

"Several buses will be organized from Saint Michael's Square to the Baikove Cemetery. Departure is at 10:30", the statement said.

For reference: Oleksandr Martynenko was born on August 22, 1960 in Kharkiv. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Kharkiv State University.

From 1987 to 1990, he worked as a junior researcher at the Department of National Economy Planning at Kharkiv State University. Then he worked for two years as a correspondent and editor of the Orientir Deep newspaper, and in 1992 became the editor-in-chief of the Kharkiv News Agency.

From 1992 to 1998, he served as president of the Interfax-Ukraine agency. In 1991, he became deputy head and in 2001 a consultant to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. In 1998-2001, he was the press secretary to the President of Ukraine. In addition, Mr. Martynenko was a member of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting from 2002 to 2003. Also, Oleksandr Martynenko was an honored journalist of Ukraine.
