Lithuania to provide €5 million to Ukraine to rebuild schools and kindergartens

The Lithuanian government will allocate EUR 5 million to Ukraine for the restoration and adaptation of destroyed schools and kindergartens

It is noted that the allocated funds will be used to restore damaged educational institutions, purchase teaching aids and computer equipment, as well as to equip shelters.

"In the context of Russia's war against Ukraine, we must help Ukrainians keep hope for the future. To do this, it is extremely important to be able to educate the younger generation even in wartime, providing education for children, despite the constant risk of air strikes", said Lithuanian Finance Minister Gintare Skeiste.

Lithuanian support will be transferred to an account opened by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine at the NBU.

  • German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Germany would allocate 60 million euros for humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

  • Also, the Swedish government has presented a package of energy assistance for Ukraine worth SEK 650 million.
