The European Fund will allocate 400 thousand euros for 8 Ukrainian films
The European Solidarity Fund at the Cannes Film Market announced financial support for the completion of 8 Ukrainian films
At the Cannes Film Market, the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films announced the results of the first round of the fund's competition in 2024. In total, 8 projects — 5 documentaries and 3 fiction films — will receive support for a total of 400 thousand euros to complete their films.
The following documentaries received support: "Listening to the World" directed by Elizabeth Smith, "Maidan Time Machine" directed by Vladimir Tykhyi and Roman Lyubogo, "Quiet Flood" directed by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, "Daughter" directed by Egor Olesov, "The Soldier's Journey" directed by Elena Maksem.
The following feature films will also receive funding: "Timestamp" directed by Ekaterina Gornostai, "To Victory!" directed by Valentin Vasyanovych and "War Through the Eyes of Animals" directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi, Julia Shashkova, Alexei Mamedov, Maxim Tuzov, Andrei Lidagovskiy and Svyatoslav Kostyuk.
It is noted that these projects were selected "due to their significance and significant contribution to the cultural heritage of Ukraine".
The support of the European Solidarity Fund will help these films complete production and find their audience. The European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films was created to support Ukrainian filmmakers, promote the development of national cinema and its integration into the world cinema space.
