Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi and spoke about the importance of the country's participation in the Peace Summit
It was reported espreso.tv

He reported on Telegram.

Zelenskyy said that during their conversation, the presidents noted the recent opening of the Ukrainian embassy in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.

"I am convinced that this will contribute to the development of relations between our states", he wrote.

The heads of state also discussed food security issues.

"Ukraine exports grain to Mozambique, but is ready to share its rich experience in agro-industry. Mozambique can also be an important logistical link in supplying Ukrainian food to other African countries. The issue of food security will be one of the main issues at our Peace Summit in Switzerland, so Mozambique's participation is important for us", Zelenskyy added.

Note, details on whether Mozambique will participate in the summit are not yet known.

Peace Summit: details and features of the event

On February 26, Switzerland announced  its intention to hold a peace summit in Ukraine before the summer. The Kremlin said it was "not serious and even ridiculous" to organize such an event without Russia.

On March 18, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Wang Shi-ting said that China was considering the possibility of participating in a peace summit organized by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine.

On May 2, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said that Russia should participate in the peace summit because "the peace process without Russia is unthinkable". However, this year Moscow was not invited to the event.

On the same day, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said that the summit would be the first real chance to restore peace.

The Peace Summit is planned to develop a common negotiating position of Ukraine, which will be passed on to Russia's top leadership, Ukrainian presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said.
