Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said that the transfer of the Patriot system to Ukraine must first be approved by the country's Supreme National Defense Council: the decision will be approved only if it does not lead to a weakening of the country's air defense
This was reported by espresso.tv

Iohannis noted that he did not want to discuss the issue of the possible transfer of the Patriot system to Ukraine in the public space, as this issue should be dealt with by military experts and the Supreme National Defense Council. In addition, the Romanian president emphasized that the transfer of air defense systems is not an easy process.

"It is very complicated, there are contracts that have been concluded between the supplier and the beneficiary, there are very complex installations, and these things need to be very well clarified. Not to mention that I do not agree under any circumstances that Romania should be left without missile and air defense. Thus, if Romania eventually gives up something, it should get something else. Otherwise, nothing will be done", Iohannis added.
  • On May 7, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis stated that he was open to discussing sending the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
  • At the same time, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that he would not be able to transfer the Patriot missile battery to Ukraine, citing the country's need to counter external threats.
