Rehabilitation of the tram infrastructure in Bucharest: An Important step for Sustainable Mobility

The City Hall launches an 855 million lei tender to modernize tram routes and improve urban mobility in the Capital.

Bucharest City Hall has launched a public tender for a contract worth 855 million lei to rehabilitate road infrastructure on the routes of three tram lines: 40, 55 and 14.  The contract involves design services, technical assistance and execution works for two separate lots.

The first lot concerns "Rehabilitation of the road system on Bd. Th. Pallady, Bd. 1 Decembrie 1918, Bd. Basarabia, Calea Călărașilor, Bd. Corneliu Coposu, including the Bucla Complex Titan." The 18 km-long route will benefit from works over a period of 33 months, at an estimated cost of 745 million lei, reports DigiEconomic.

The second lot is divided into three sections. The first section involves "Rehabilitation of the road system on Pache Protopopescu Boulevard and Traian Street, with a route length of 1.900 km." This section covers the route of line 55 and runs along Bd. Corneliu Coposu, Calea Călărași, Traian Street, Bd. Pache Protopopescu, Sos. Iancului, and Sos. Pantelimon.

The second section of Lot 2 is "Rehabilitation of the road system on Ferdinand I Boulevard, between Mihai Bravu Road and Traian Street". It serves tram line 14, with a length of 0.690 km and focuses on improving the technical condition of the route.

The third section of Lot 2 involves "Rehabilitation of the road system on Dristor Street between Camil Ressu Boulevard and Baba Novac Street, with a route length of 0.220 km." This section allows trams to return in case of damage on adjacent sections and aims to improve the technical condition of the tram line.

Bids for this contract will be received until 31 January 2024, and will be decided on the basis of the financial component, the experience of the project team, the methodology of approaching the works and the guarantee given.
