Singh emphasized that the United States is currently doing everything possible to make sure that Ukraine has everything it needs "not only to repel Russian attacks, but also to do so successfully".

At the same time, she said, the Pentagon recognized that "Ukrainians have suffered" due to the delay in providing assistance from the United States.

"We have seen them lose some territory to the Russians. But, you know, we are confident in the Ukrainians... we believe that they will succeed", the US defense spokeswoman emphasized.

In addition, she explained that the Russian offensive in Kharkiv region was not a surprise to the Pentagon.

"This (Russian offensive - ed.) was not something unexpected, it is what the Ukrainians expected. We know that they (Russian troops - ed.) have intensified some of those border attacks. And most likely, they will increase their number in the coming weeks", Singh said.
  • On Monday, May 13, the head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that he expects a new offensive by the Russian army in Sumy region.
