One European Country Ready to Extradite Men to Ukraine for Mobilization
Estonian Authorities Propose Extradition Agreement
Estonia is ready to search for and extradite military-age male refugees to Ukraine. To this end, Tallinn proposed to conclude an agreement between the two countries.
This was stated by Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets, according to ERR .
"If Ukraine needs it, Estonia can search for this person and extradite him to Ukraine. In general, we know where these people are, what they are doing. Most of them go to work, have a place of residence in Estonia", - said Läänemets.
At the same time, ERR reports that under current laws, Estonia can only extradite foreigners who are subject to criminal charges.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has already appealed to the Ukrainian Ambassador and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Estonia with a request to inform about refugees in the country, if necessary.
Despite this, Kyiv has not yet submitted an official request. Therefore, Läänemets said that in the coming days he would propose a written proposal for an agreement between the two countries.
Ukraine has started working on a draft law that will allow Ukrainians abroad to be called up for military service. It is planned to be presented in January, during the first days of the Verkhovna Rada session.
