Zelenskyy initiated the creation of Unmanned Systems Forces in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft decree on the formation of a new type of troops
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the government's support for the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to create the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Umerov emphasized that this decision is a strategically important step for the country in the context of countering threats from russia.
"The Unmanned Systems Forces is a modern and necessary solution for the effective use of our combat potential and technological superiority over the enemy at all levels – strategic, operational and tactical – with the help of unmanned systems in the air, on land and at sea", the minister said.
He also said that the Ministry of Defense will prepare and submit to the government a relevant bill to implement this initiative.
Umerov emphasized that the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces will strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. Earlier, on February 6, President Zelenskyy instructed the Cabinet of Ministers, together with the General Staff, to work on the issue of creating the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate type of force within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and submit proposals to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
