On March 18, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Wang Shihting said that China was considering the possibility of participating in the Peace Summit organized by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine.
On May 2, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said that russia should take part in the Peace Summit because "the peace process is unthinkable without russia." However, moscow was not invited to the event this year.
On the same day, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said that the summit would be the first real chance to restore peace.
At the Peace Summit, a joint negotiating position of Ukraine will be developed, which will be handed over to the top leadership of russia, said Ukrainian presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov.
Swiss President, Viola Amherd, said she had invited Pope Francis to the Global Peace Summit to be held on June 15 and 16 in Burgenstock.
