It is noted that the russians may gain success on the battlefield in the near future, despite the allocation of US military aid because "it is not possible to switch the toggle switch instantly".
Sullivan said that with the new assistance from Washington, Ukraine will be able to "hold the line" through 2024.
According to him, in 2025, Ukraine intends to "move forward and regain control of the territories taken from it by russia".
But any new offensive by Ukrainian troops in 2025 will depend on increased funding from Congress and approval from the White House, the Financial Times writes.
- On April 20, 2024, the US House of Representatives held a historic vote to approve a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
- On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed a package of bills to help Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan for $95 billion and confiscate russian assets under a shortened procedure, which was approved by the Senate earlier that day.
- On the same day, the United States announced a new $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine and disclosed its contents.
