Polish President Andrzej Duda believes that during the country's presidency of the European Union next year, Warsaw should focus, among other things, on Ukraine's European integration and on eliminating the consequences of russian aggression

According to the Polish leader, in the first half of 2025, Warsaw will have to organize two summits — with Ukraine and the United States.

These summits, organized during Poland's EU presidency, should focus on Ukraine's reconstruction and accession to the European Union, Duda suggested during a speech at the Presidential Palace on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the EU.

"I believe that we should organize two European summits in Poland precisely to emphasize the importance of these crucial elements of Europe's development for the future", he said.

Duda clarified that he is in favor of organizing an EU—US summit and a second EU—Ukraine summit, which will "focus on the issues of rebuilding Ukraine and Ukraine's accession to the European Union".

Poland's EU Presidency

As a reminder, according to the schedule, Poland will once again hold the EU presidency in the first half of 2025. In addition to it, a trio of presiding states will be formed, together with Denmark and Cyprus.

  • In early June, the speakers of the parliaments of Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states will hold a security summit in the Polish city of Bialystok. The leaders of the parliaments intend to reaffirm their unity against the backdrop of the threats the countries are facing today.
