Weapons and equipment: The Ministry of Defense signed contracts worth UAH 582 billion, almost 50% with Ukrainian manufacturers

As of April 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed contracts for the purchase of weapons and military equipment worth UAH 582.2 billion: almost half of them are with Ukrainian manufacturers

These are agreements that were concluded in different years and have different deadlines. However, some of them already provide for UAH 254 billion to be paid in 2024.
Dzhygyr emphasized that despite the significant assistance from partner countries, it is also important to attract investment to develop the domestic defense sector's own capabilities.
"We encourage international partners to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry and buy defense goods for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces from Ukrainian manufacturers. This is a vital thing, because these funds will work for our country, stimulate domestic production and serve as a driver of Ukraine's economy", he said.
According to Dzhygyr, focusing on domestic capacities will help improve the supply of weapons and equipment for the Ukrainian army, but its development is complicated by the war with russia.
- Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine returned UAH 1.5 billion involved in a corruption scheme to purchase artillery shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
