The US sanctions covered 16 individuals and two legal entities, all of them associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and involved in the production of drones that Tehran used during the attack on Israel on April 13.

The US blacklist also includes five companies that supply Iran with components for steel production and three subsidiaries of an Iranian car manufacturer that cooperates with the IRGC.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Commerce is introducing additional export control measures designed to limit Iran's access to microelectronics used in weapons production.

"We will continue to use our sanctions authority to confront Iran, with further actions to be announced in the coming days and weeks", US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement.

The UK sanctions target seven individuals and six military organizations involved in Iran's UAV and ballistic missile industry. This package adds to the more than 400 sanctions already in place against Iran.

"The UK and US have announced a series of sanctions to target Iran's network of key unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and missile producers and further limit Iran's ability to destabilize the region", the UK government said.
