The winner in the Teacher-Mentor nomination is Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Dmytro Lupyak, who teaches labor training at Vinnytsia Lyceum.
"Throughout my teaching career, I have strived to create the best possible conditions for children to learn. When I came to work at a school where there were only walls, doors and a few decommissioned machines, I was able to create a creative space where children were flocking. Then came almost two years of quarantine, which taught me great flexibility: online, making things out of nothing, offline, and online again", the teacher says.
After he won the 2021 Teacher of the Year award, local authorities allocated funds to renovate the labor training room at his home school. However, a year later, a full-scale war broke out. Mr. Dmytro's school first became a shelter for IDPs, and then a Point of Resilience. Despite this, the teacher continued to teach children in a remote format.
"For quality learning in remote and blended learning, over the past year and a half, I have developed about 150 presentations for grades 5-6 with interactive exercises and instructions for each project", he said.
Even with distance learning, Dmytro Lupyak's students continue to study hard and become winners of various competitions. According to Mr. Lupyak, the secret of his success as a teacher is his love for his work.
