The ten-year defense cooperation agreement provides for the permanent deployment of U.S. soldiers and equipment in Denmark
On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen officially signed a bilateral defense cooperation agreement.
The signing ceremony was broadcast by the US State Department.
Prior to the signing, Blinken noted Denmark's important role in providing military support to Ukraine, including the provision of modern F-16 fighter jets, and expressed appreciation for the interaction in defense cooperation between Denmark and the United States.
"The agreement we are signing today is based on our common desire to strengthen defense cooperation and reinforce our mutual commitments to security and stability," Blinken added.
This ten-year defense cooperation agreement stipulates that U.S. military personnel and equipment may be permanently stationed in Denmark. The agreement is expected to enter into force in about a year after the necessary legislative approval.
