Turkey to increase the number of military bases in northern Iraq after the death of 12 soldiers
The country plans to strengthen its newly established military bases in this way
In connection with the deaths of 12 Turkish soldiers in northern Iraq, Turkey has decided to strengthen its newly established permanent military bases in the region in the coming months.
This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to him, the infrastructure of new military bases in northern Iraq will be completed by spring, which should provide effective protection against terrorist threats.
In recent years, Turkey has been actively building hundreds of kilometers of roads in northern Iraq to accommodate permanent military bases in the region. Now it plans to expand this activity to newly controlled territories. President Erdogan noted that these measures are aimed at preventing possible terrorist attacks and strengthening security in the region.
It is important to note that Turkish troops regularly conduct operations in Iraq to counter Kurdish militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Special security measures and strengthening of the infrastructure of new military bases were a response to the recent tragic events and security threats in the region.
