The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which presents the Oscars, has set dates for key events, including the deadline for submission and the day of the nominees' announcement

According to espreso.tv

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC, the network that broadcasts the Academy Awards, have announced that the 97th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. The show will once again air live at 19:00 on ABC and in more than 200 countries around the world.

The organizers have released a calendar of key dates for the next awards season. Thus, the deadline for the Best Picture nomination is November 14, 2024. On December 17, the Oscar shortlists will be announced, and on January 17, 2025, the nominees will be revealed.

Although the Academy is probably far from announcing a host, the Oscars 2024 went off without a hitch for the second year in a row, even gaining ratings when Jimmy Kimmel hosted for the fourth time. Academy CEO, Bill Kramer, has expressed interest in a "multi-year partnership with the producers", so there's certainly a chance that Kimmel, his producing partner Molly McNearney, executive producer Katie Mullan and EP/showrunner Raj Kapoor will be invited back.

Among the films that are already likely to be nominated for Oscars are "Dune: Part Two" by Denis Villeneuve and George Miller's film "Mad Max: Fury Road", which will premiere on May 24. Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer won the main and major awards.

Ukraine won an Oscar for the first time - Mstislav Chernov's film "20 Days in Mariupol" won in the Best Feature Documentary category.
