Cluj DNA prosecutors reveal shocking details in corruption case with judicial implications.

Prosecutors announced the indictment of a couple accused of bribery and complicity. The case is related to a corruption trial in which one of their relatives was already on trial.

The indictment reveals that the wife allegedly tried to influence a judge through a witness by offering him a large sum of money and other undue advantage in order to obtain a favorable ruling in an appeal against a corruption case. The husband was both a moral and material accomplice, contributing to the logistics of the whole operation, according to a press release from the National Anticorruption Directorate - Cluj Territorial Service. 

The defendants were remanded in custody and prosecutors ordered the seizure of €50,000, seized in flagrante delicto, for special confiscation. The case was sent to the Mures Court for trial, with preventive and precautionary measures maintained.

This is further evidence of the authorities' fight against corruption and the revelations in the indictment shed light on illegal practices targeting the judiciary. Prosecutors have been supported in their investigation by the Directorate-General for Anti-Corruption.
