Industrial production in the Eurozone fell to its lowest level since 2020

Industrial production in the Eurozone fell by 0.7% month-on-month in October 2023 to its lowest level since 2020, following a revised 1.0% decline in the previous period and exceeding the expected 0.3% decline. 

This became known from EUROSTAT data.

The output of capital goods decreased by 1.4%, followed by a 0.6% decline in the production of both intermediate and nondurable consumer goods. 

Conversely, energy production increased by 1.1% after two periods of decline, and production of durable consumer goods increased by 0.2%. 

On a year-on-year basis, industrial activity in October declined by 6.6%, exceeding the expected 4.6% drop and extending the current sequence of contraction to the eighth consecutive month.
