Attack on Kyivstar carried out by russian hackers
SBU helps Kyivstar to resume operations
Hackers from russia have claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on one of Ukraine's largest mobile operators, Kyivstar.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
"One of the Russian pseudo-hacker groups has already claimed responsibility for the attack. It is a hacker unit of the General Staff of the russian Armed Forces (better known as the GRU), which thereby attempts to publicly legitimize the results of its criminal activities", - the statement said.
The SBU noted that its employees are helping Kyivstar to restore the network. In particular, on 13 December, plans include restoring fixed-line internet for households, as well as launch mobile and internet services.
"Kyivstar's digital infrastructure has been critically damaged, so it will take time to restore all services in compliance with the necessary security protocols", - the SBU said.
As a reminder, on the morning of 12 December, Kyivstar, Ukraine's largest mobile operator, suffered a large-scale technical failure caused by a hacker attack on the network core.
