Train tickets have gone up by 8.8%
Updated fares for the new Train Route 2023-2024
The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has announced that train tickets have risen by 8.8%. This increase coincides with the introduction of the new 2023-2024 Train Route, which is valid until 14 December 2024. The ARF updated fares in line with the inflation index set by the National Statistics Institute on 1 October.
In a Facebook post, ARF explained that the adjustment of fares is in line with the principles laid down in the legislation and applies with the change in the timetable. In this context, the inflation index on 1 October 2023 was 8.8%, reports Agerpres.
Despite this increase, CFR Călători made no mention of fare increases in its previous communication on the 2023-2024 Train Routes, focusing on adapting supply to demand and introducing new train connections, including international ones.
As a result, passengers will face higher train ticket prices from now until 14 December 2024, reflecting adjustments and improvements in rail passenger services.
