ANRE intensifies controls in the energy sector
171 checks underway, with focus on preventing suspicious price increases
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has launched 171 checks on economic operators in the electricity and natural gas sector, as part of an action to ensure compliance with regulations and legal obligations in the field. Among the main issues addressed is the verification of compliance with the provisions of Emergency Ordinance No 27/2022 in the electricity sector.
ANRE pointed out that there are indications of the successive sale of quantities of electricity "with the clear aim of increasing the price", stressing the importance of maintaining a competitive and transparent environment in the energy sector, according to the press release issued by the institution. Control actions include checks, inspections and surveillance, with the aim of preventing practices that could affect the market and consumers' interests.
These measures are part of the authorities' efforts to ensure the proper functioning of the energy market and to avoid phenomena that could lead to suspicious price increases. ANRE is committed to maintaining transparency and fairness in the energy sector, thus protecting consumers' interests and ensuring a healthy competitive environment.
