Sweets only from specialist shops

On the eve of Santa Claus, the Director General of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), Paul Anghel, makes an important recommendation to parents. He advises that sweets for presents should only be bought in specialized shops and departments. The reason behind this advice is to ensure that transactions are recorded by a purchase document, such as an invoice, tax receipt or fiscal receipt. These documents can be essential in the event of later complaints about the quality or safety of the products purchased. This promotes responsible shopping behavior and ensures that sweets offered to children are safe and meet quality standards.

Recommendations from the head of ANPC:

  • Buy only from specialist shops and ask for purchase documents. These will help you if you want to complain about the quality or safety of a product.
  • Choose toys that are age-appropriate. Check the age recommendations and warnings on the packaging to ensure the safety of your little ones.
  • Check the markings on toys, including the manufacturer's details, unique identification number, and CE marking. These are signs that the toy meets safety standards.
  • Make sure toys have specific instructions for use and warnings. Translating these into Romanian is essential.
  • Avoid toys with small detachable parts for children under 3 years old, as they tend to put them in their mouths.
  • For sweets and chocolates, buy only from authorized shops. Check the integrity of the packaging, the date of minimum durability and the cocoa content of the chocolate.
  • If you bring sweets, make sure they have CE markings, information about the ingredients translated into Romanian and the price displayed.
