Rheinmetall to supply 25 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks to Ukraine
Leopard 1 systems are currently being overhauled and prepared for use
The German concernRheinmetall has signed a contract with the Ukrainian government to supply 25Leopard 1 tanks and other auxiliary equipment next year. This is stated in thecompany's official statement .
It is noted that theagreement provides for the supply of 25 Leopard 1A5 battle tanks, 5 Bergepanzer2 armored evacuation vehicles and two tanks for driver training.
The company said thatthe order is funded by the German government and is worth "about twofigures" in millions of euros. Berlin will also provide training,logistics, spare parts, maintenance and other support services for Ukraine.
"The delivery isscheduled for 2024. The Leopard 1 systems are currently undergoing majorrepairs and preparation for use at Rheinmetall's plants", - the statementsaid.

The company noted thatRheinmetall continues to support Ukraine with a steady stream of tacticalequipment. Earlier, the company was tasked with supplying eighty Marderinfantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine.
"Most of them arealready in the country, where they have proven their courage in ongoingoperations", - the statement said.
In addition, on behalfof the governments of the Netherlands and Denmark, Rheinmetall will supply 14Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine next year. The company also provides the ArmedForces of Ukraine with ammunition, drones, medical equipment, etc.
Earlier, we reportedthat Rheinmetall will produce 100,000 rounds of mortar ammunition for Ukraine.The company received this order from the German government.
It was noted that thedelivery should start soon and will last for the next two years.
