Poroshenko was not allowed to go abroad

Business trip for the 5th President cancelled by the Verkhovna Rada

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine did not allow the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to cross the state border to attend official meetings in Poland and the United States.

This was reported by Poroshenko himself on his Facebook page.

"I have an order of the Verkhovna Rada for a business trip. On the basis of this order, I plan to implement state measures in the form of bilateral and non-bilateral meetings," Poroshenko said in a video posted on the website.

According to him, he had dozens of meetings scheduled in Poland and the United States. With the Poles, he was supposed to talk about lifting the blockade of our carriers at the border, and with the Americans - about securing funding for military aid.

"But the border guards did not let me through. I am far from thinking that the border guards acted on their own initiative. Anyone can guess who cancelled the document signed by the Speaker of the Parliament," Poroshenko said.

Later, MP from the European Solidarity party, Iryna Herashchenko, published an order cancelling Poroshenko's permission to travel abroad. The order was initiated by the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also explained the refusal to cross the border by the fact that it was cancelled by the Verkhovna Rada.

"Border guards have confirmation that his business trip abroad was cancelled. That is why he was not allowed to cross the state border of Ukraine," said Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service.

As a reminder, in 2022, Poroshenko was also not allowed to travel abroad. It was only on 30 May that Poroshenko crossed the border of Ukraine with Poland on the third attempt. Border guards cited "a problem with the validity of the permit" as the reason for Poroshenko's refusal to leave - the QR code was not read.
