Ukrainian Military Arrives in Spain for Hawk SAM Training: What Does the Program Encompass?

A group of Ukrainianmilitary personnel has arrived in Spain for training on Hawk surface-to-airmissile systems. This was reported by the Spanish Ministry of Defense .
"As acontinuation of the events already held in the first half of 2023, the 74thAnti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment is conducting a new training course forseveral dozen Ukrainian military personnel in the use and maintenance of theHawk missile system," the statement said.
The Spanish Ministryof Defense states that this assistance aims to enhance air defense capabilitiesin the face of a significant threat originating from the attacker's means,whether it be aircraft, missiles, or unmanned aviation systems.
The Hawk missilesystem has already demonstrated its effectiveness
According to Spanish military officials, theHawk system has proven its effectiveness on the front lines, a fact alsoacknowledged by the Ukrainian government.
"As part ofSpain's commitment to assist Ukraine in its defense capabilities, the 74thAnti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment has been assigned to create another trainingmodule to educate the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in tasks relatedto the operation of the aforementioned Hawk surface-to-air missilesystems," stated the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

Comprehensive trainingfor this module includes theoretical and practical instruction. To achievethis, a highly qualified and experienced team from the regiment has beenselected as instructors. Thanks to them, Ukrainian military personnel willacquire the necessary skills and knowledge for operating the Hawk missilesystem. An intensive training and preparation program has been outlined forthis purpose, as stated in the announcement.
It's worth noting thatat the end of October, another group of Ukrainian military personnel begantheir training on Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems in Germany. This wasreported by the German Air Force .
