Take care of force majeure in advance and travel with confidence
The coronavirus pandemic has taught people to be more careful about their health when travelling. But there are still other risks, such as injuries, poisoning and natural disasters.
According to Alfa Insurance's statistics, in 2021, the majority of Ukrainians' insurance claims (26%) were related to injuries that occurred during outdoor activities or excursions. Other common cases include respiratory tract infections (17%), abdominal pain (13%) and dental care (9%). Requests for coronavirus treatment account for only 7% of all cases.
Although the best trip is the one when you don't need insurance, it is impossible to foresee all risks. Therefore, it is wise to take out a travel policy in advance, ensuring that you are supported in case of difficulties.
Travel insurance policies can be divided into two categories: a policy for domestic travel and a policy for international travel. Usually, insurance companies offer a travel insurance policy that is tailored to a specific trip.
The cost of the policy depends on the length of stay abroad, the age of the tourist and the country of visit. For example, for a 30-year-old tourist travelling to an EU country for a week, the cost of a policy ranges from UAH 114 to UAH 481, depending on the programme chosen.
When travelling, a travel policy also provides insurance against financial risks (flight delay, loss of luggage, loss of documents) and accident insurance.
Also, when travelling to exotic countries, you should take care of vaccination against diseases common in that region.
