Energy Support Fund for Ukraine: Denmark to donate €7 million

Lars Ogår during a meeting with Herman Halushchenko: Ministry of Energy of Ukraine

Denmark plans to make a grant contribution of EUR 7 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. These funds will be used to purchase equipment to restore the energy infrastructure affected by Russian attacks.

This was announced by Lars Ogår, Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark, during a meeting with Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.

Ogør noted that Denmark will transfer 4 million euros in the near future, and another 3 million will be transferred later. He emphasised that this is a definite position of both the Danish government and Danish business in supporting Ukraine in its confrontation with the Russian aggressor, particularly in the energy sector.

Minister Galushchenko expressed his gratitude for Denmark's becoming the first sponsor of the Fund with a grant contribution of about EUR 536 thousand. These funds have already been used to purchase energy equipment for 10 Ukrainian energy companies.

It is important to note that the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine was established in the spring of 2022 at the joint initiative of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko and the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. The Fund allows governments, international financial institutions and private donors to provide meaningful support to the Ukrainian energy sector.

Throughout the war, Denmark has been actively providing military assistance to Ukraine, donating more than $14 million worth of military equipment, including infantry fighting vehicles, tanks and other weapons.
