Non-financial residents' deposits increase in October
The deposits of resident non-financial customers increased by 0.1% in October 2023 compared to the previous month, reaching 548.343 billion lei. Compared to the same period last year, they increased by 11.7% (3.4% in real terms), reports Economica.
Deposits in lei of residents, with a share of 68.7% in total deposits of non-governmental resident customers, decreased by 0.04% compared to September 2023, reaching 376.589 billion lei. Compared to October 2022, they recorded an increase of 20.6% (11.6% in real terms).
Household deposits in lei increased by 1.8% compared to the previous month, reaching 206.390 billion lei, and by 24.8% (15.5% in real terms) compared to the same period of the previous year.
Foreign currency deposits of residents, denominated in lei, accounting for 31.3% in the total volume of deposits of non-government customers, increased by 0.3% compared to September 2023, reaching 171.754 billion lei. Compared to October 2022, the indicator expressed in lei decreased by 3.8% (-4.9% when expressed in euro).
Households' foreign currency deposits, expressed in lei, decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous month, reaching 119.293 billion lei. Compared to the same period in 2022, the decrease in this indicator expressed in lei was 4.0% (-5.0% when expressed in euro).
Foreign currency deposits of other sectors, expressed in lei, increased by 1.6% compared to September 2023, reaching 52.460 billion lei. Compared to October 2022, the indicator expressed in lei decreased by 3.5% (-4.6% when expressed in euro).
