Gabriel Andronache, vice-president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), announced on Monday the possible increase of electricity distribution tariffs by about 6% starting January 1, Agerpres  reports.

Stating that they have had extensive discussions with distributors, Andronache explained that they have made requests for additional funding, claiming the need for more money for certain activities carried out.

Andronache pointed out that distributors could have managed investments more calculatedly, especially in transmission, to avoid the current pressure on the network, stressing that a phased development would have been more efficient.

In the context of the pressures created by prosumers and distributors' demands, it is estimated that electricity distribution tariffs could increase by around 6% from 1 January. This measure comes in the context of discussions and adjustments in the energy sector to ensure a robust and sustainable infrastructure.
