Romania stands out among Eastern European countries for its revolution in public transport, driven by significant investments aimed at modernizing and expanding the metro network in Bucharest. According to the analysis conducted by the Romanian Association for Smart City (ARSC), 2023 was a landmark year for Romanian public transport, reports Agerpres.
Cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Brasov, Turda, Suceava, and Bucharest stand out by adopting advanced technologies. The implementation of ticketing and real-time information systems contributes to an improved travel experience, and investments in electric buses and trams support the commitment to the environment.
At the ROPAT 2023 event, Ionel Scrioșteanu, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, emphasized progress in infrastructure and outlined future projects, including motorways and metro trains.
Eduard Dumitrașcu, President of ARSC, said that these developments not only improve the passenger experience, but also help reduce environmental impact and streamline operations. With rapid strides towards a smart transport system, Romania leads the region in terms of progress.
